A soft and elegant Brunello with wonderful fruit and fine tannins, making it a deliciously approachable wine.
Hand harvested grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks then moved to various oak barrels for 2 years before being bottle aged for another 2 years before release
We tried this when we visited the Antinori tasting "resort" (incredible) in Tuscany. Brunellos are all grown in roughly the same 5,000 acre area, following the same wine growing and wine making rules, so it's amazing that you'll find so many different expressions of it. This one is on the more soft elegant side with wonderful fruit and fine tannins. It's very approachable and just a delicious wine.
This has an expressive nose offering aromas of ripe red berry, violet, star anise and coffee bean. Elegantly structured, the linear palate features mature black cherry, blood orange, ground clove and espresso alongside taut, fine-grained tannins that leave a firm finish. Give it several years to fully develop.
Cherry, plum and cedar aromas follow through to a medium to full body with integrated, polished tannins that are fine and pretty. Not the biggest Brunello from this vintage, but shows interest and focus. Try after 2023.
